Gilad Shalit’s Book Now on YouTube

From the IsRealli blog:

Gilad Shalit’s book, When the Shark and the Fish First Met, now appears on YouTube to mark two years since he was kidnapped.

The Consulate General of Israel filmed five fifth-grade students from New York [Bronx Middle School] reading the story that Shalit wrote when he, too, was eleven years old. “Gilad was a boy our age when he wrote this story; if only we could write something so significant at this age. Today, no one knows where he is and he probably misses his parents,” said one of the students. “If the shark and fish can make peace, why can’t people?”

You can also download the story in Hebrew and in translation here.

It makes me want to cry. Where are we? Why are we so callous? We have forgotten Ahavat Yisrael. No Hamas leader or member should be safe until Gilad is home. Blockade Gaza and announce continual bombing until we get Gilad back. Apparently, Jewish suffering doesn't affect us anymore. We have hearts of stone.

Anonymous: Show some spine, reveal yourself don't hide behind the cowardice of 'anonymity'.

How more personal can an action be than to deprive someone of their freedom for more than two years?

What a stupid remark.

Palestiniasts like "Anonymous" don't want to admit that they have never reconciled themselves to the establishment of a legitimate and sovereign Jewish state.

Palestiniasts don't want to admit that the Palestinian Charter clearly calls for the destruction of Israel.

Palestiniasts don't want to admit that there is NO occupation of Gaza anymore. Israel demolished whole communities and pulled each and every Israeli citizen out and redeployed all their forces outside the recognized boundries of Gaza territory. What there is now is an economic blockade. That happens in times of armed conflict and are NOT against international law.

Palestiniansts have been believing the hype too long.

Anonymous, you are no longer occupied. Get that through your head.

Next time don't attack a soveregin nation like you did in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, and several dozen infitadas, because you're going to lose.

What you should do, Palestiniast, is focus on your own crimes against humanity you have committed by launching missiles over an international border into a sovreign state. See, the civilized world calls that an act of war and there's a whole lot of badness that comes with that.

Keep doing bad things and Gaza will remain a pustule of festering Gazans.

Think on that, and don't take it personally.

The rest of us already know that your double-standards and trickery are the mainstay of Arab politics, and we're going to beat you every single time you trick us.

It is terribly painful for the Shalit family and Jews everywhere to have a son/soldier held by a cruel and inhuman enemy. It is terribly sad that the Palestinian people have been trapped and duped by elements that care so little about their own population and use civilians as pawns in their mindless pursuit of never ending violence. When Gilad returns alive we will rejoice. If G-d forbid, his body is returned we will thank G-d for caring for his soul. No matter what happens, until the Palestinian people chose a different path, they will remain hopelessly enslaved by their so-called leaders.
