Today Is The Day: Tweet4Shalit! #GiladShalit

On August 28th, Gilad Shalit will celebrate his 23rd birthday. However, instead of celebrating his birthday with family and friends, Gilad Shalit will be 'celebrating' his birthday in terrorist captivity in Gaza, courtesy of the terrorist group Hamas.

In order to raise awareness of Gilad Shalit’s story and to get support for his immediate release, various groups have organized “Tweet4Shalit”, which will take place from Wednesday, August 26th at midnight until Thursday, August 27th.

The goal is to make “Tweet4Shalit” into an event where thousands of people will tweet the hashtag #GiladShalit on Twitter and make Gilad a top 10 Twitter “Trending Topic.”

For more information about “Tweet4Shalit,” click here.

Please take part in this important event.

Gilad Shalit Day on Twitter was a big success...I saw it hit #3 on trending topics. I heard from other people it was #2 on the same day Ted Kennedy took over the headlines.

I blogged on it:

4/27/2010: Wear white for Gilad Shalit Day

Four years of captivity have passed and I see no other solution for the release of Gilad Shalit, only by divine intervention, since the negotiations fail . I beg every day to the God of Israel to release Gilad Shalit from the hands of Hamas.

Well didnt Israel claim there was a state of war in defence of the attack against the Turkish ship recently?
Doesnt that mean that Shalit is a prisoner of war?

How to free Gilad Shalit in 48 hours, without firing a shot!
By: Pesach Nussbaum, Montréal, Canada

I would like to share with you a simple and straightforward idea that could guarantee the release of Gilad Shalit from the hands of Hamas and stop the bombardment from Gaza of southern Israel in 48 hours. This idea requires no offensive military maneuvers on the part of Israel, it does not even require the firing of a single pistol. This plan does not require so much as the release of a single terrorist prisoner from an Israeli jail. Yet, its probability of success is extremely high.

Will this strategy and tactic bring the adulation of the nations and the world’s leaders? Certainly not! In fact they will rile against it, claiming such an approach to be shameful and unacceptable. The question then will be: Can the leadership of the State of Israel muster the courage of conviction to make it happen? That is the real uncertainty of this plan.

The State of Israel places a lot of faith and invests huge sums into their ‘Hasbara’ public diplomacy and international advocacy apparatus. Yet the vilification of Israel only increases all over the world. Some say that they are not really doing a good job, that the ‘Hasbara’ should be expanded and improved. But the truth is, that the hatred of the Jews by the nations of the world cannot be explained away. Which nation considers Israel essential? Which nation would weep if Israel were, G-d forbid, no more?

We, the Jewish people, became a nation over 3300 years ago when G-d’s Torah was given to us at Sinai. Many other nations more numerous and mightier than us have appeared and disappeared on the stage of history throughout the millennia. Only we have survived and continued to thrive. How did we do it? Was it through our own resources? Through our own efforts? No, in fact sometimes we acted against our own self-interest. So what then is the answer? Simply, G-d chose us from among the nations to be his people. He tasked us to act in a righteous manner and be a light unto the nations. He chose us, however, not for our actions, but for our being. Only when we demonstrate to the world our pride in who we are can we have any hope that Anti-Semitism will subside. Witness the respect of the nations for Israel in the victory of the 1967 six day war.

Enough suspense. Here’s the idea:
Israel puts Hamas on notice that unless they release Gilad Shalit and commit themselves in a document deposited in the UN to cease all bombardment of southern Israel, the thousands of tons of daily supplies provided by Israel to Gaza will cease in 48 hours.

Like I said, this plan will not win any popularity contests and demands a lot of courage from Israeli leadership. But without courage and conviction, what actually makes them leaders?

The Torah cautions that those who are kind to the cruel, will eventually be cruel to the kind.
Let us be kind to the kind and do what has to be done to

Free Gilad Shalit NOW!

Yes , It is very important that Gilaad celebrates his BD with his family , but how many palestinian fathers , brothers ,grandparents , mothers , sisters ..etc will not be celebrating their BDs ???

Stop this stupidity and ignorant , just aknowledge the right of others so you get aknowledgment of your rights . The extreme majority of Palestinian prisoners have nothing to do with any of the explosions that Israel had , and they are just freedom youth . So , stop exposing the fucking victimized image , it's not Europe anymore !!
